Revelation Explained: Verse by Verse

5.0 ★★★★★ (6 reviews)  |  Amazon 4.7 from 149 reviews

You’ve tried to read Revelation and closed it more confused, or more afraid, than when you began. This book changes that.

Most Christians hit the beasts, the bowls, and the dragon somewhere around chapter 13 and give up. Revelation Explained: Verse by Verse walks you through all 22 chapters in plain language, with no Greek, Hebrew, or seminary training required. Richard French reads the whole book through one clear truth: Jesus Christ has already won, so the frightening images become reassurance instead of terror.

Richard has spent thirty years studying Revelation as a layperson and a career making complex systems understandable. He brings both to these pages: the patience of someone who has lived in this text, and the gift of making a feared book finally make sense.

In this book you will:

  • Learn the Old Testament Foundations taught before each chapter, so you understand where the symbols come from before you meet them
  • Use the “let Scripture interpret Scripture” method to make sense of beasts, numbers, and the mark of the beast on your own
  • Follow the four views of Revelation and see clearly why this commentary reads it through the futurist lens

Every chapter follows the same clear shape, with Common Questions and Reflection Questions, so you always know where you are and what comes next. A free companion study guide with ten sessions is available for your small group, Bible study, or Sunday school class.

This 3rd Edition presents all four interpretive views fairly before making its case for the futurist reading, giving you a trustworthy guide that respects your intelligence.

Whether you’re an intimidated believer, a new Christian, or a small-group leader, you will finally read Revelation with confidence and hope.

This is Revelation made clear, one verse at a time. Not oversimplified, just explained. Get your copy now.

Revelation Explained by Richard French is an absolute masterpiece when it comes to breaking down prophecy fulfillment in Revelation. French takes the complicated symbolism from John’s Apocalypse and makes it super easy to understand, going through it verse by verse. What really was nice was how the author linked the Book of Revelation with the Old Testament prophecies…

The book does an amazing job of setting the scene historically for Revelation but also makes this relevant for readers today. It’s got a balanced view on all the end-times highlights, steering clear of the usual hype but still getting across the urgency and hope that’s in John’s visions.

I’d definitely recommend you pick up this book if you want to get a better grip on the Book of Revelation.

Have you ever wanted to learn about the meanings of Revelation, the last and probably most obscure book of the Bible’s New Testament? Revelation Explained is a concise explanation of the transformational wisdom, complex concepts and symbology of Revelation for all readers, including those who are not Biblical scholars. The Introduction chapter is an excellent outline and review of the entire Book of Revelation. Each chapter of Revelation is presented with an overview and then each verse is decoded separately with a clear explanation of its meaning in everyday language, followed by a short discussion of Old Testament references to the chapter, a summary of the chapter and a set of questions to ask yourself to apply the chapter’s messages to your everyday life. In turbulent times, Revelation’s message of renewal and restoration of all creation and healing of nations in the new eternal kingdom offers hope to all. This book is an excellent study guide for individuals and groups. The clarity of this book’s explanations has given me new understandings of Revelation messages to contemplate and meditate upon.

This book is now a key part of my Bible study library. Revelation can be tricky, but with this book, it became something I actually look forward to reading. Great for anyone wanting to grow deeper in scripture.

  5. Owen Tate

This isn’t just a commentary it’s a study tool. The structure is logical and the explanations are always grounded in scripture. I especially liked the historical background that helped me see the context in a new way.

“Revelation Explained” by Richard French is a Christian book about the Book of Revelation in the Bible. Like the title says, the author explains the Book of Revelation.

The author takes on the Book of Revelation not just chapter by chapter but verse by verse, quoting each and explaining what they mean. The author even goes as far as relating the teachings of the Book of Revelation to books in the Old Testament. The author also does a summary after each chapter, even after discussing each chapter verse by verse, to refresh your mind on what you just read and also point out anything you might have missed, and finally gives an application of the teachings of the Book of Revelation in our time today.

I loved reading this book so much because of the author’s approach; he didn’t just talk about things as a whole; instead, he took it verse by verse, breaking down the message to ensure you get the full picture and pick all you should pick from it. I also loved how he related the teachings to books in the Old Testament, being able to point out relations I didn’t know existed between the Old and New Testaments. I also loved how simple his sentences and use of English were, making it easy for anyone to read.

I have absolutely no criticism for this book; it’s perfect. The book was exceptionally edited; it was educative and engaging. I loved how the author concluded the book, and for these reasons, I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. The author did an amazing job, and I look forward to reading more books by the author.

I recommend this book to all Christians around the world, because this book is a reminder of what is to come, and I think every Christian needs to remember this every day to help them hold onto their faith no matter how hard things might get and also anticipate the coming of Christ.
